Baseball Recap: Dominguez Wins Going Away Against Lynwood

Dominguez hadn't done well against Lynwood recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Dons put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 14-2 victory. The Dons haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Lorenzo Rodriguez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Dominguez's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 6-15-1 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Esteban Murillo, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Daveon Brim, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Dominguez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Dominguez's victory bumped their record up to 9-15-1. As for Lynwood, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
