Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Saint Mary couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Del Oro Golden Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Saint Mary's started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-9, 15-9.

Despite the defeat, Saint Mary's saw an underclassman step up: freshman Landry Fa'Afiu had 12 digs and two assists.

Saint Mary's loss dropped their record down to 25-9. As for Del Oro, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-11 record this season.
