Baseball Recap: Collinsville Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Collinsville hadn't done well against O'Fallon recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Kahoks came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 5-2. This was a revenge game for the Kahoks: when they faced off against the Panthers on Tuesday, they had to take a 7-3 defeat.

Will Swip spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Collinsville's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Luke Robinson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. The Kahoks are undefeated when Robinson posts two or more runs, but 7-16 otherwise. Another was Carson Parrill, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Collinsville moved to 12-16 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for O'Fallon, their loss dropped their record down to 20-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Collinsville will face off against Centralia at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for O'Fallon, they will square off against Edwardsville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
