Softball Game Preview: Wilton Warriors vs. Hand Tigers

The Wilton Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Hand Tigers at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Wilton took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Staples with a sharp 11-5 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Warriors have posted against the Wreckers since April 17, 2017.

Meanwhile, Hand sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Shelton on Friday.

Grace Hall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Phoebe Brennan was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Hand has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wilton, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-7 record.
