Basketball Recap: Smethport Comes Up Short

Smethport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 24th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 43-32 to the Galeton Tigers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hubbers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 41-31 last Friday.

Galeton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but MASYN MALACZEWSKI led the charge by putting up six points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 boards gave MALACZEWSKI a new career-high. GAVIN SHUTT was another key player, earning 14 points and five rebounds.

Smethport's record is now 0-15. As for Galeton, their win ended a nine-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13.

Smethport will host Kane at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Galeton, they will challenge Williamson at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
