Volleyball Recap: Unity Christian Takes a Loss

Unity Christian was the 3-2 winner over Pathway Christian when they last played one another on September 9th, but their luck changed this time around. The Knights fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Unity Christian wouldn't go down easily and took Pathway Christian into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-16, 25-16, 18-25, 15-10.

Emily Merema paced Unity Christian's offense, picking up 20 kills. Merema got some help from Maddy Wilbur and her 13 assists. Wilbur and Merema didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with three apiece.

Unity Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Pathway Christian, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Unity Christian has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against East Moline Christian on the 3rd. As for Pathway Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Faith Christian on the 4th.
