Baseball Game Preview: Oberlin Phoenix vs. Keystone Wildcats

Oberlin is 0-6 against Keystone since April of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Phoenix will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Oberlin turned things around against Firelands on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 18-5 victory. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Phoenix this season.

The team relied heavily on Julian Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Drew Walter, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Oberlin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Keystone entered their tilt with Black River on Tuesday with ten consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 11. They came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 6-1.

Keystone's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Oberlin, their win bumped their record up to 3-11.
