Basketball Game Preview: Willapa Valley Vikings vs. Crescent Loggers

The Willapa Valley Vikings will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Crescent Loggers at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Willapa Valley will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Willapa Valley narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Naselle 60-58.

Willapa Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Ritzman, who posted 12 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nathan Fluke, who had 11 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Willapa Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 11 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Crescent unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 48-40 to Concrete. The matchup marked the Loggers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Crescent's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Willapa Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
