Baseball Recap: Gibbs Comes Up Short

Gibbs extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-8. They lost 7-0 to the Gulf Buccaneers. If the Gladiators were looking for revenge after losing 16-0 to the Buccaneers when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Gulf, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

For Gulf's part, the team relied heavily on Aidan Coment, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Coment has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Luke Kelton, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gibbs will host Largo at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Gulf, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Dunedin at 7:00 p.m.
