Basketball Game Preview: Hamilton Yankees vs. Hoover Cardinals

The Hamilton Yankees will challenge the Hoover Cardinals at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Hamilton and three for Hoover.

Last Friday, Hamilton was beaten by Palisades 78-47. While losing is never fun, the Yankees can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 700th, while the Dolphins are ranked 196th).

The losing side was boosted by Garrett Anderson, who posted ten points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Vernell Thompson, who put up nine points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Hoover took on Linfield Christian on Saturday. Hoover took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Linfield Christian.

Hamilton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Hoover, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
