Basketball Recap: Boardman Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Boardman entered their tilt with Austintown-Fitch on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They secured a 74-70 W over the Austintown-Fitch Falcons. This was payback for the Spartans, who suffered a 61-26 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carter Owens, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Owens a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcel Finkley, who went 10 of 18 en route to 27 points.

Boardman's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Austintown-Fitch, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Boardman will head out on the road to take on Harding at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Boardman's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Austintown-Fitch, they will be playing at home against Howland at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Austintown-Fitch is facing Howland at the right time seeing as Howland is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
