Basketball Recap: Cesar E. Chavez Comes Up Short

Cesar E. Chavez lost against Lamar back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cesar E. Chavez Lobos took a blow against the Lamar Texans, falling 72-29. While losing is never fun, the Lobos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 897th, while the Texans are ranked 344th).

Several Lobos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Johntta Thomas, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Cesar E. Chavez has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-17 record this season. As for Lamar, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-15 record this season.

Cesar E. Chavez does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lamar, they will face off against Cypress Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cypress Creek will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Lamar surely won't give up without a fight.
