Baseball Game Preview: Beaufort Academy Eagles vs. Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors

The Beaufort Academy Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Beaufort Academy has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Beaufort Academy easily dispatched Battery Creek on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Eagles fell just short of Thomas Heyward Academy by a score of 14-12 on Wednesday.

Franklin Savage was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Nic Shuford was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Andrew Jackson Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Patrick Henry Academy by a score of 9-8.

Jack Walling put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off three hits. Walling was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Kaiden Kinard made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hayden McClung, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Beaufort Academy's record now sits at 2-6. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, their record is now 9-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Beaufort Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Andrew Jackson Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts.
