Softball Recap: CORE Butte Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chester, CORE Butte was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Redding Christian Lions by a score of 11-6. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Lynx's hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Mara Gonzalez was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Taylee Aars was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Gonzalez wasn't the only one making solid contact: CORE Butte kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

CORE Butte's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-9. As for Redding Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8-1.

CORE Butte didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-5 loss against Paradise on the 9th. As for Redding Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Burney at 4:00 p.m. The Raiders will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
