Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Pahranagat Valley's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

It's playoff time, and Pahranagat Valley had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Tonopah Muckers on Friday as they made off with a 14-1 victory. Considering the Panthers have won 12 games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Keadin (CJ) Christian made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two triples and two runs. Those two triples gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Pahranagat Valley let Colin Howard and Flint Higbee run wild. Howard went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Higbee went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave Higbee a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trevor Thiriot, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Pahranagat Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Pahranagat Valley is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Tonopah, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-8.

Pahranagat Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 4-3 loss against Liberty Baptist Academy on the 9th. Tonopah does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
