Volleyball Game Preview: Mercy Tigers vs. Shelton Gaels + How To Watch

The Mercy Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Shelton Gaels at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Mercy came up short against Lyman Hall and fell 3-1. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Mercy came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 22-25, 25-22, 26-24.

Meanwhile, Shelton beat Seymour 3-1 on Wednesday.

Shelton had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-15.

Shelton's win came from a few key players Mercy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nicole Zotova, who had 15 digs and three aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Emma Sollenne was another key player, getting seven digs and two aces.

Shelton was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in eight consecutive contests.

The win got Shelton back to even at 6-6. As for Mercy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Mercy couldn't quite get it done against Shelton when the teams last played on September 4th as they fell 3-1. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
