The Plainview Hornets will square off against the Avoyelles Charter Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Plainview will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
On Monday, Plainview came up short against Beau Chene and fell 9-5.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Avoyelles Charter, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on Port Barre with a sharp 15-2 victory on Monday. Considering the Vikings have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
JaNiya Heath made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Allison Mitchell was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylie Jeansonne, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Avoyelles Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Port Barre only posted an OBP of .286.
Avoyelles Charter's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-15. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Plainview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season.
Plainview suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to Avoyelles Charter in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
