Softball Game Preview: Nodaway Valley Wolverines vs. Wayne Falcons

Nodaway Valley is 0-7 against Wayne since June of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Wolverines will challenge the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Nodaway Valley has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Nodaway Valley was handed a eight-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They skirted past Central Decatur 12-11. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wolverines needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Meanwhile, Wayne strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They never let Moravia get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. Considering the Falcons have won four games by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Wayne's win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Nodaway Valley, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Nodaway Valley might still be hurting after the 14-1 loss they got from Wayne when the teams last played back in June of 2024. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
