Softball Recap: Lincoln Wins Going Away Against Pioneer

Lincoln's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Pioneer Pioneers 18-3. The win continues a trend for the Railsplitters in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won seven in a row.

Savanna Kane was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Kane was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Lincoln let Bria Powell and Ava Greene run wild. Powell went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Greene went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sheyla Urena-Jordan, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Lincoln was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Lincoln now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Pioneer, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln will head out to challenge Adrian at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pioneer, they will venture away from home to square off against Tecumseh at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.75 runs per game on average), something the Pioneers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
