Baseball Game Preview: Emerson Mavericks vs. Frisco Raccoons

The Emerson Mavericks are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will challenge the Frisco Raccoons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Emerson is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

On Friday, Emerson was able to grind out a solid win over Heritage, taking the game 8-5.

Cooper Hebert made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched six innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Hebert was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Finley Hambrick, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted over his last five matchups. Zach Richard also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Emerson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Frisco waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Redhawks by a score of 6-3.

Frisco's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Voris, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Voris is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another was Owen Watson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Frisco's record is now 9-5. As for Emerson, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2.
