Football Recap: Appalachian Victorious + How To Watch

On Friday Appalachian's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 34-33 W against the Section Lions. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

It was another big night for Braden Gilliland, who rushed for 200 yards and five scores on only 15 carries. Gilliland is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 146 every time he's taken the field this season. Colton Caldwell was another key player, rushing for 82 yards and one TD on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Appalachian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 303 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 249 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Appalachian's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Section, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Coming up, Appalachian will host Spring Garden at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Section, they will head out to take on Gaston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
