Columbia had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 7-3 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Kalama Chinooks an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Bruins have won six matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

As for Kalama, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Kalama's part, Delaney Rinard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and nine unearned) runs on 14 hits. Rinard has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Kalama beat Columbia by a score of 24-18 later that day.
