Baseball Recap: Pellston Takes a Loss

Pellston extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Bellaire Eagles. If the Hornets were looking for revenge after losing 1-0 to the Eagles when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Bellaire, they moved to 8-5-1 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. The game marked their most dominant victory of the season.

For Bellaire's part, Colin Bearup made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Bearup has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Tyler Schumaker was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Keegan Lovett was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Coming up, Pellston will square off against Forest Area at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bellaire, they will face off against Ellsworth on Thursday.
