Baseball Recap: Canton Takes a Loss

Canton lost against Pekin back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Little Giants fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 7-6. While the Little Giants didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Dragons 6-1 in the first period.

Asher Blessman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Colin Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Canton has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Pekin, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-16.

Coming up, Canton will be playing at home against Farmington at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Little Giants' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Farmers have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. Pekin will be paying especially close attention to Canton's matchup: after Canton faces off against Farmington, they'll take on Pekin again at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
