Softball Game Preview: Firestone Falcons vs. Smithville Smithies

The Firestone Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the Smithville Smithies at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses apiece.

Firestone came up short against Shaker Heights on Thursday, falling 15-1.

Meanwhile, Smithville scored the most runs they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They lost 15-8 to Norwayne.

Smithville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caitlin Walsh-Knouff, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Another was Reiley Evans, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Firestone's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Smithville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Firestone suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Smithville in their previous matchup back in April of 2018. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
