Golden Gate is 1-9 against Lely since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Titans will head out to square off against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Golden Gate has given up an average of 17.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Golden Gate managed to slip by Estero the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Titans lost 18-2 to the Wildcats on Friday.
Meanwhile, Lely made easy work of Dunbar on Thursday and carried off a 15-2 victory. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Fighting Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Sophia Moriarty made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lely got a massive performance out of Brooke Bledsoe, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and one RBI. Those four hits gave Bledsoe a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lianayah Llorca, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Lely was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Lely's record is now 6-8. As for Golden Gate, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.
Lely's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Golden Gate hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .380. It's a different story for Lely, though, as they've only averaged .243. Will they be able to contain Golden Gate's hitters?
Golden Gate suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Lely in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
