Softball Recap: Payson Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Payson entered their tilt with Gunnison Valley on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 12-7. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 9-8 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Aydrie Christensen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sienna Lund, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of London Armstrong, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Payson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They are 7-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got Payson back to even at 8-8. As for Gunnison Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.

Payson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 16-9 win against Carbon on the 11th. As for Gunnison Valley, they have also already played their next game, an 11-0 defeat against Desert Hills on the 11th.
