Game recap: Gillespie High School Football Team defeats Southwestern

GILLESPIE, Ill. - Gillespie (Ill.) kept up a steady attack all game long to defeat Southwestern (Piasa, Ill.), 38-12, on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Mike Henderson in the first quarter, the Miners were up 22-6 at the half.

Gillespie grew its lead to 30 points entering the fourth quarter. GHS scored three times in the third, including once on a Henderson touchdown run.

The loss was the fourth in a row for the Piasa Birds. With the win the Miners extended their winning streak to four games.

Gillespie (4-0) will play a South Central game against Hillsboro next week, while Southwestern (0-4) will take on Pana also in a South Central game.
