Soccer Recap: Columbia's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Columbia's game on Thursday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 2-0 to the Chaminade Red Devils. While losing is never fun, Columbia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' soccer rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 117th in Illinois, while Chaminade are ranked 14th in Missouri).

Columbia's defeat ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5-1. As for Chaminade, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Columbia will take on Murphysboro at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Columbia's defense better be ready for this one: Murphysboro have averaged an impressive 3.1 goals per game this season. As for Chaminade, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on De Smet Jesuit at 7:15 p.m. on October 7.
