Baseball Game Preview: Peyton Panthers vs. Swink Lions

The Peyton Panthers will face off against the Swink Lions at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Peyton had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 6-1 win over Hoehne on Friday.

Bryce Love was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Zayden Ebbert, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Peyton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hoehne only posted an OBP of .320.

Meanwhile, Swink put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Centauri 13-3. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by exactly ten runs.

Nate Cabrera made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nick Paolucci, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Luke Hanagan was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Peyton came up short against Swink in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 7-4. Can Peyton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
