Baseball Recap: Lyford Triumphs

While Lyford's victory against La Feria wasn't quite the blowout they won the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lyford Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the La Feria Lions 7-6. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won six in a row.

The team relied heavily on Maverick Claffy, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Diego Medina was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Lyford's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for La Feria, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Lyford didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-1 win against Pettus on the 27th. La Feria will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Port Isabel at 7:00 p.m. on March 7th. The game will give La Feria their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
