Baseball Recap: Saint Mary's Comes Up Short

Saint Mary had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-13 to make it five. They fell just short of the De Anza Dons by a score of 10-9. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Saint Mary's got a massive performance out of Bryce Gilmore, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Damien Nolan was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for De Anza, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-10-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On De Anza's side, they let Ian Garcia and Zion Shott run wild. Garcia went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Shott went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave Shott a new career-high. Chad Oakley also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Saint Mary's beat De Anza by a score of 8-7 on Thursday.
