Soccer Game Preview: Aspen vs. Roaring Fork

The Aspen Skiers will head out to face off against the Roaring Fork Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Aspen proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by five) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let Coal Ridge get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Aspen wouldn't have won without Willow Schaefer, who scored the game-winner.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Roaring Fork, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on Coal Ridge with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering Roaring Fork have won five contests by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Aspen is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those five matchups. As for Roaring Fork, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3-3.

Aspen couldn't quite get it done against Roaring Fork in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Skiers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
