Basketball Recap: Mercer Takes a Loss

Mercer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 48-28 to the Grundy County Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 39-35 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Mercer's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Grundy County, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-5.

Mercer has already played their next game, a 48-28 defeat against Grundy County/Newtown-Harris on the 24th. As for Grundy County, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Winston at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th.
