Basketball Game Preview: St. Pius X Panthers vs. Village Vikings

St. Pius X and Village are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The St. Pius X Panthers will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Village Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

St. Pius X is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since November 2, 2024 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Houston Christian and fell 70-33. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Village's good fortune finally ran out two weeks ago. They received a blow as they fell 72-53 to Marian. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 398th, while the Eagles are ranked 84th).

Village now has a losing record at 12-13. As for St. Pius X, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-16.

St. Pius X came out on top in a nail-biter against Village when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 41-39. Does St. Pius X have another victory up their sleeve, or will Village turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
