Football Game Preview: Lennox Orioles vs. Tri-Valley Mustangs

Lennox and Tri-Valley are an even 3-3 against one another since September of 2015, but not for long. The Orioles will head out to challenge the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Lennox 14.1, Tri-Valley 14.3) so any points scored will be well earned.

Lennox is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Dakota's top teams: Madison, who was ranked 18th at the time (Lennox was ranked 13th). The Orioles were the clear victors by a 44-19 margin over the Bulldogs on Friday. Considering the Orioles have won four contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last matchup, Tri-Valley made sure to put some points up on the board against Vermillion on Friday. The Mustangs took down the Tanagers 36-21.

The victory was the third in a row for Lennox, bringing their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.3 points over those games. As for Tri-Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Everything came up roses for Lennox against Tri-Valley in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 46-8 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Orioles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
