Football Recap: Penn Manor Falls to Conestoga Valley in First Game of Season

Penn Manor unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Conestoga Valley Buckskins on Friday, falling 28-0. The Comets have struggled against the Buckskins recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Sawyer Esbenshade went supernova For Conestoga Valley., throwing for 249 yards and three TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 44 yards. What's more, Esbenshade racked up 163.2 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Teagan Ruble, who rushed for 98 yards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Penn Manor will take on Dallastown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Conestoga Valley, they will face off against J.P. McCaskey at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
