Basketball Game Preview: Coshocton Redskins vs. River View Black Bears

Coshocton and River View are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Coshocton Redskins are taking a road trip to take on the River View Black Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Coshocton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully River View likes a good challenge.

Coshocton will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating New Lexington, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Coshocton came out on top against New Lexington by a score of 60-52 on Saturday.

Coshocton relied on the efforts of Colton Conkle, who went 7 for 16 en route to 26 points and six rebounds, and Alex Taylor, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 20 points and eight boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Conkle has scored at least a third of Coshocton's points. Another player making a difference was Blayden Workman, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, River View sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-57 win over West Holmes on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Black Bears.

River View's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10. As for Coshocton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Coshocton against River View when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 72-38 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coshocton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
