Basketball Recap: Tamaqua Takes a Loss

Tamaqua won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were beaten by the Lincoln Leadership Academy Lions 64-37. While losing is never fun, the Blue Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 436th, while the Lions are ranked 169th).

Tamaqua's loss came despite strong showings from Noah Mateyak and Cooper Ansbach. Mateyak posted 13 points, while Ansbach earned 12 points. That was a full 35.1% of Tamaqua's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Lincoln Leadership Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dwight Prud'Homme out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards. Brandon Young was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Tamaqua moved to 5-9 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Lincoln Leadership Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.

Tamaqua wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-29 defeat against Minersville on the 14th. As for Lincoln Leadership Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-46 victory against Lehigh Valley Academy on the 14th.
