Baseball Preview: McNary Celtics vs. West Salem Titans

After two games on the road, McNary is heading back home. They will take on the West Salem Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McNary will be strutting in after a win while West Salem will be coming in after a loss.

McNary is hoping to deliver their fans another blowout on Tuesday, just like they did against McDaniel (and have done all season long). McNary was the clear victor by a 16-5 margin over McDaniel on Thursday.

Carter Hawley made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Hawley has been consistent recently: he hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Hawley was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordan Araiza, who went 2-for-5 with a home run, three runs, and three RBI. Jake Allen was another key contributor, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with a home run, two runs, and a stolen base.

Meanwhile, West Salem was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 17-4 to Thurston.

McNary now has a winning record of 10-9. As for West Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
