Softball Recap: Patrick County Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

There's no place like home for Patrick County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Chatham Cavaliers with a sharp 12-4 win on Tuesday. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Jenna Woods made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Woods was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Journey Moore, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Lacey Sutphin, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Patrick County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Patrick County pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Chatham, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Patrick County will host Glenvar at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chatham, they will be playing at home against Dan River at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season.
