Baseball Recap: Eastlake Wins Going Away Against Grossmont

Eastlake owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Grossmont Foothillers as they made off with a 9-0 victory. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Foothillers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Jordan Gomez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Eastlake is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise. Gomez was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JP Conero, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Luca Penteraini also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Eastlake's record now sits at 7-5. As for Grossmont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Eastlake will challenge Cathedral Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 2.4, the Dons 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Grossmont, they will face off against St. Augustine at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
