Volleyball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Athens' 11th in Last 12 Outings

Athens won the last time they faced Maroa-Forsyth and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Warriors walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Trojans.

While Athens won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 26-24.

Lydia Hart paced Athens' offense, picking up 12 kills. Hart got some help from Arabelle Cunningham and her 20 assists. Devan Barrett controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Despite the loss, Maroa-Forsyth still got an impressive performance from Lainey Larner, who had 13 digs.

Athens is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. As for Maroa-Forsyth, their loss ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 16-7.

Athens and Maroa-Forsyth should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Warriors will face off against Illini Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (73 vs. 615). Meanwhile, Maroa-Forsyth (ranked 130th) will meet Auburn (ranked 334th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
