Preview: Central Bears vs. Citrus Hurricanes
Central is on a 13-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), the Hurricanes a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Central Bears will take on the Citrus Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Central comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last nine games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Central lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Monday was a bit more commanding. They took a serious blow against Classical Prep, falling 49-5.
Elena Sanchez was Central's leading scorer, having posted three points.
Drew Richard held things down on the boards with three rebounds.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 44-2, which was the final score in Citrus' tilt against the Knights on Wednesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Citrus has scored all season.
Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-21. As for Citrus, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.
Central was taken down by the Hurricanes 48-11 in their previous meeting last Monday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Citrus' Demi Williamson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 steals. Now that Central knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
