Basketball Game Preview: John F. Kennedy Rockets vs. Floresville Tigers/Jaguars

John F. Kennedy hasn't had much luck against Floresville recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The John F. Kennedy Rockets will look to defend their home court against the Floresville Tigers/Jaguars at 7:00 p.m.

Last Tuesday, John F. Kennedy took a blow against La Vernia, falling 76-30. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1296th, while the Bears are ranked 375th).

Meanwhile, Floresville had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They managed a 50-44 victory over the Warhorses. 50 seems to be a good number for the Tigers/Jaguars as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Floresville's win came from a few key players John F. Kennedy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Neveah Joyner, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds. Jordin Johns was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Floresville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests.

Floresville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-13 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for John F. Kennedy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-23.
