Recap: Ainsworth Bulldogs vs. Stuart Broncos
The Ainsworth Bulldogs entered their tilt with the Stuart Broncos with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Ainsworth managed a 59-54 win over Stuart on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Ainsworth, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Carter Nelson was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Ainsworth's points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Held, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.
Stuart's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hunter Tubbs, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Tubbs hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavynn Mustin, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Ainsworth's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Stuart, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-7.
Ainsworth will be playing in front of their home fans against Gothenburg on Friday. One thing working in Ainsworth's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches. As for Stuart, they will head out on the road to challenge Osmond/Randolph at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
