Basketball Game Preview: Moffat County Bulldogs vs. Basalt Longhorns

The Moffat County Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Basalt Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Moffat County is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Last Saturday, Moffat County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-45 to Grand Valley.

Despite their defeat, Moffat County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Trayson Carlson, who posted 12 points and seven steals, was perhaps the best of all. Those seven steals gave Carlson a new career-high. Kenyen Camilletti was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Moffat County was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grand Valley only racked up four assists.

Meanwhile, Basalt came up short against Montrose on Tuesday and fell 50-41. The matchup marked the Longhorns' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Moffat County's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Basalt, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Moffat County beat Basalt 51-39 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Moffat County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
