Baseball Game Preview: Pontotoc Warriors vs. Itawamba Agricultural Indians

The Pontotoc Warriors will challenge the Itawamba Agricultural Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pontotoc has three straight victories, Itawamba Agricultural has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Pontotoc barely beat Clarksdale the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Pontotoc was the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over Clarksdale on Friday.

Hadley Corley made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 4-for-5.

In other batting news, Corbyn Clayton was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Miller Finn was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Itawamba Agricultural didn't have quite enough to beat Tishomingo County on Friday and fell 8-7.

Itawamba Agricultural's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Pontotoc, their win bumped their record up to an identical 8-3.

Pontotoc skirted past Itawamba Agricultural 2-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Will Pontotoc repeat their success, or does Itawamba Agricultural have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
