Softball Recap: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Boardman Spartans
Roosevelt had lost six straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-17-1 to make it seven. They came up short against the Boardman Spartans, falling 13-6. The Rough Riders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in May of 2015.
As for Boardman, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.
For Boardman's part, they got a massive performance out of Laci Jurus, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four hits gave Jurus a new career-high. Jocelynn Torres was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Roosevelt does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Boardman, they will square off against Canfield at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
