Soccer Game Preview: Downey vs. Enochs

Downey hasn't had much luck against Enochs recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Downey Knights will face off against the Enochs Eagles at 3:30 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Downey is headed into the game having not lost since December 7 and will look to keep things rolling. They and Pitman finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw on Thursday. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time the Knights have been dealt a draw since back in November of 2024.

Their goal came courtesy of Gabriel Abarca, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, Enochs fell victim to Turlock and their airtight defense on Thursday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 1-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 244th).

Enochs' loss dropped their record down to 10-3-1. Downey's draw gives them a new season record of 9-2-2.
